Our Story

Every brand has a story. This is ours.

Not a press release. Not a marketing pitch. Just the honest, unfiltered journey of how Softgarments went from a frustrated question to a nationwide Pakistani clothing brand one fabric, one fit, one order at a time.

Because we believe the best brands aren't built on what they sell but on why they started.

One The Problem The beginning of Softgarments — a frustrated question
Where it all began

A question that wouldn't let go.

It started with a simple, maddening question: why is it so hard to find comfortable clothing in Pakistan? Not luxury. Not designer. Just clothes that fit well, feel soft, and don't lose their shape after three washes.

We spent months walking through markets in Islamabad, browsing racks online, ordering from different brands. Every single time either the fabric was stiff, the stitching gave way, or the sizing was guesswork. We kept asking ourselves: surely someone must have figured this out by now?

No one had. So we decided we would.

"We weren't trying to build a fashion empire. We were trying to make one honest kurti that didn't disappoint."
"
Comfort isn't a luxury feature. It's the minimum standard every woman deserves and it was the one thing missing from every rack we searched.

Two The Beginning Testing fabrics in the early days of Softgarments
Months of testing

We started with fabric, not designs.

Most clothing brands start with sketches. We started with swatches. Before we designed a single piece, we ordered fabric samples from mills across Faisalabad and Lahore and then we did something unusual: we washed each one 30 times and checked the results.

Some fabrics felt incredible on day one and turned scratchy by week two. Others looked premium but lost colour in the first wash. We rejected dozens of swatches sometimes an entire season of samples before we found the cotton and linen blends we now use for every Softgarments piece.

The process was slow. It was expensive. But it was the only way we could promise something every brand promises but few actually deliver: quality that lasts.

Three First Orders Softgarments first orders and packaging
The first 100 orders

Our first sale was to a cousin.

We're not going to pretend otherwise. Our first order didn't come from a customer in Karachi it came from family. Our second was a friend of a friend. For the first few weeks, most orders were people who knew us personally and were kind enough to give us a chance.

But then something changed. Those first customers started sending us messages: "Where has this brand been all my life?" Photos of them wearing their Softgarments pieces. Reviews we never asked for. One aunt ordered the same co-ord set in three colours.

We knew then that we weren't just making clothes for people who loved us. We were making clothes for people who actually loved them.

Four Learning Learning from mistakes at Softgarments
The hard lessons

We made mistakes. Plenty of them.

Our first launch had 40% of orders come back. Not because the fabric was bad but because our size chart was. We had based it on guesswork instead of real measurements. Women were choosing sizes that seemed right on paper and getting the wrong fit in real life.

We shut down new orders for three weeks. We re-measured everything. We reached out to every single customer who had ordered, asked them for their honest feedback, and rebuilt our size guide from the ground up. Real bodies, real measurements, real feedback.

When we re-launched, our return rate dropped from 40% to under 6%. That was the moment we understood what a clothing brand actually needs to get right.

"The customer isn't always right but they're always honest. And that's worth more than any trend report."

Where we are today.

Not a vanity metric in sight. These are the numbers that actually matter to us the people, the parcels, and the feedback.

What We've Learned

Five lessons the hard way.

If you ever start a brand or anything at all these are the lessons we'd want you to know upfront.

01

Fabric beats fashion

A beautiful design in cheap fabric will always disappoint. A simple design in great fabric will always be loved. Prioritise quality over aesthetics every time.

02

Feedback is a gift

The customers who take time to tell you what's wrong are worth ten times more than the ones who just say "it's nice". Read every message. Reply to every complaint.

03

Slow is smooth

Rushing to launch a product usually means launching twice the second time to fix what was wrong the first time. Better to delay and do it right.

04

Sizing is everything

You can have the best fabric and stitching in the world but if the fit is wrong, nothing else matters. Invest in real sizing data, not guesses.

05

WhatsApp is a superpower

Every brand has a website. Very few brands answer their customers personally every day, in real time. That human connection is our biggest advantage.

06

Comfort can't be faked

You can style a photo beautifully, but you can't Photoshop comfort. Women know the difference between a piece that looks soft and one that actually feels soft.

A letter from the team

If you've read this far, thank you. Genuinely. Most people skim a brand story. You didn't and that means something to us.

We started Softgarments with almost nothing. No investors, no studio, no marketing budget. Just a laptop, a WhatsApp number, and a belief that Pakistani women deserved better than the options they had.

Every order we've received has been a small vote of confidence. Every message, every review, every photo you've shared has kept us going through the difficult weeks because running a small brand in Pakistan is not easy. There are days when the courier loses a parcel, a fabric shipment arrives wrong, or a customer is upset about something we could have handled better. We've faced all of it.

But here's what we've learned: if you stay honest, keep shipping, and answer every message people notice. That's the entire secret. There is no magic formula.

So thank you for being here. For reading. For wearing. For trusting a small brand with your hard-earned money. We don't take it for granted not for a single order.

And if you ever have feedback, a question, or just want to say hi our WhatsApp is open. Someone from our team replies every single day.
